Completion of acquisition of Littlewoods - 11.07.05

Associated British Foods plc, the international food, ingredients and retail group, announced on 11th July 2005 the acquisition of Littlewoods Stores Holdings Limited and St James Street Properties Limited from LW Finance Limited for a consideration of £409m. The acquisition was completed at the end of July 2005.

Associated British Foods plc, the international food, ingredients and retail group, today announced the completion of its acquisition of the international yeast, yeast extracts and bakery ingredients business of Burns Philp, as announced on 22 July 2004.

Completion of US herbs and spices acquisition - 03.09.04

Associated British Foods plc, the international food, ingredients and retail group, today announced the completion of its acquisition of the US herbs and spices business of Burns Philp, as announced on 22 July 2004. Completion of the acquisition of its international yeast, yeast extracts and bakery ingredients businesses will be the subject of a future announcement.

Completion of Billington's acquisition - 20.08.2004

Associated British Foods plc, the international food, ingredients and retail group, today announced the completion of its acquisition of The Billington Food Group (Billington's) as announced on 27 May 2004. Billington's is one of Europe's leading importers of traditional unrefined raw cane sugars for the retail and manufacturing markets.

US$1.35 billion food ingredients acquisitions for ABF - 22.07.2004

Associated British Foods plc, the international food, ingredients and retail group, has today announced the acquisition of the international yeast, bakery ingredients and US herbs and spices businesses from Burns, Philp & Company Limited of Australia for US$1,350m (£730m), subject to regulatory approvals.

Mexican oils and fats brands from Unilever - 09.03.2004

Associated British Foods announced an agreement to buy Unilever's food oils and fats brands in Mexico for US$110 million in cash. ABF will manage the Mexican business through its US subsidiary ACH Food Companies (ACH).

Ovaltine - 08.10.2002

ABF has today announced the acquisition of Novartis AG's Food and Beverage business for €272.5 million (£171 million). This comprises Ovaltine and associated brands. Ovaltine, or Ovomaltine outside the UK, is a large, growing international brand with leading market positions in Europe and Asia.

Minority interests of George Weston Foods (GWF) - 01.09.2002

ABF acquired the minority shareholdings in George Weston Foods which thus became a wholly owned subsidiary.

Mazola - 23.04.2002

ABF today (23 April 2002) announced the acquisition, by its subsidiary ACH Food Companies ("ACH"), of Unilever's branded corn oil and corn products business in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The acquisition positions ACH, already a leader in North American food oils in the foodservice and own label markets, as a leader also in the branded retail sector with the newly acquired Mazola brand.

Crusha - 18.12.2001

Associated British Foods acquired Crusha, a syrup-based milk shake mix, in December. The brand, which has a long heritage stretching back to the 1950s will be added to our market leading sugar and sweetener brand Silver Spoon's portfolio of products.

Kerry SPP - 07.12.2001

The Abitec Group have reached agreement to purchase Kerry SPP, the bakery ingredients business of Kerry Group. The combination of Kerry SP and AB Ingredients will give the Abitec Group a focused bakery ingredients business with which to capitalise on the growth opportunities in the bakery ingredients market.

Chinese Sugar - 21.11.2001

Following the success of its existing joint venture operations in the Guangxi Autonomous Region of South China, British Sugar Overseas (BSO) has signed an agreement with the Wuxuan Sugar Mill. Under the agreement, BSO will invest 63 million yuan (about $US 7.6 million) for 70% of a new joint venture company to be called Bo Xuan. The new company will be expanded to produce up to 100K tonnes of sugar per year.

P&G Foodservice - 13.11.2000

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (6.11.2000) - ABF's North American subsidiary, ACH Food Companies, Inc. (ACH), formerly AC Humko Corp., has announced its intention to acquire the Commercial Shortening and Oil Products business from the Procter & Gamble Company. This marks the company's 14th and largest acquisition in less than five years.

Beacon Speciality Ingredients - 10.11.2000

Associated British Foods (ABF), the international food, ingredients and retail group, has announced the acquisition of Beacon Specialty Ingredients, a US business providing granulation, blending and milling services to the pharmaceutical and nutritional industries.

C&A Stores - 19.9.2000

Associated British Foods announced today (Tuesday 19 September) the acquisition of six stores by its Primark retail business. The stores were previously part of the C&A group and are located in Harrow, Huddersfield, Lewisham, Newcastle, Sheffield and Woking. A further six stores, which were previously part of the C & A Group, have since been acquired and are located in Stirling, Aberdeen, Dundee, Southampton, Braehead and Bristol.

Lonza - 12.7.2000

Associated British Foods (ABF), the international food, ingredients and retail group, has announced the acquisition of the polyols business of Lonza Inc., a North American subsidiary of Swiss owned Lonza Group. In 1999, Lonza polyols had sales in its last full financial year, ended 31 December, of $20.0 million.

4 Polish Sugar Plants - 6.7.2000

ABF has announced agreement, through its British Sugar Overseas (BSO) subsidiary, to acquire a further four beet sugar plants in Poland. ABF has been building its stake in Poland since the first two factories were acquired in 1989 and sees this acquisition as an opportunity to significantly improve its market share and efficiency in a market offering good growth potential.

Dalgety Feed Mills - 02.11.1999

With the acquisition of six animal feed mills from Dalgety Feed Ltd, Associated British Foods (ABF) moved towards consolidating its position as a major producer in the UK market in the rapidly rationalising feeds sector.

AB Enzyme (formerly Röhm Enzyme) - 01.11.1999

In a move aimed at progressing ABF's growth in the international food ingredients sector, ABF has today (1.11.1999) acquired Rohm Enzyme GmbH from Degussa-Hüls GmbH of Germany.
Röhm Enzyme is one of the world's leading enzyme producers in the food sector, and is strong in the bakery ingredients market. It also supplies enzymes for the industrial and animal feed markets.

Pacific Grain - Nov 1999

ACH Food Companies expanded its interests in grain based ingredients with the acquisition of Pacific Grain, a Californian based supplier of rice flour and flour based blends, extruded particulates and other speciality ingredients.

Don Smallgoods - 05.10.1999

The Don Smallgoods business, based in Melbourne, was acquired on 5 October 1999. Don's is one of Australia's best known brands. This business complements the strong existing presence already enjoyed in Australia with Watsonia in Western Australia and Melosi in New South Wales.

1998

SPI - 20.10.1998

ABF purchases SPI from an investment group whose principal investors are Harrowston, Inc. of Toronto, Ontario and Chase Capital Partners of New York. SPI is a leading supplier of polyols in North and South America. Polyols are used as sweetening agents in food products and as ingredients in personal care products such as toothpaste and detergents. SPI is also a world leader of magnesium and aluminium pharmaceutical antacid active ingredients.
