Associated British Foods is a major international manufacturer of branded and private label grocery products, many of which are market-leading household names.

Our focus in this area has been to invest in a brand-leading position whilst increasing efficiency and reducing costs.

Hot Beverages

Twinings and Ovaltine comprise our global hot beverages business.

Twinings has maintained strong growth, principally through expansion of its product portfolio. In the UK, its premium Everyday Tea is now well established and the Green Teas range is growing significantly. The Twining range has been relaunched in the US and it continues to make progress in other international territories.

Ovaltine, a brand now over 100 years old, holds the position as the largest producer of malt-based hot beverages in Continental Europe.

Sugar & Sweeteners

This business holds a leading position in the UK through its Silver Spoon and Billingtons brands. Range extensions, such as Lite, and acquisitions have been especially beneficial in achieving this success.

Vegetable Oils

In the US, Mazola is the leader in the premium corn oil market. Capullo enjoys a similar position in the Mexican premium canola oil sector.

Bread & Baked Goods

The businesses in this category are especially strong in the UK and Australia.

In the UK, Ryvita is the leading brand in the growing crispbread market. It has maintained this position through brand extensions such as Ryvita Minis and Ryvita Goodness Bars. Kingsmill and Allinson compete in the UK bread market. We also have a 20% share of Jordan’s the successful UK cereal and cereal-bar business.

Milling and baking are core activities in Australia and New Zealand. Among the leading retail brands are Tip Top, the market leader, and Golden, both in the bread sector. Frozen bakery products are distributed in the region under the Speedibake brand.

World Foods

The acquisition of Patak’s has strengthened the business, joining brands such as Blue Dragon, Rajah and Lotus. These are the mainstays in a comprehensive range of spices, sauces, rice, edible oils, flour and noodles that hold a leading position in the UK wholesale and food service sectors.

Herbs & Spices

We are a leading US producer of herbs and spices through the Tone’s, Spice Islands and Durkee brands.

Meat & Dairy

In Australia, we supply sausages, hams, salami and dairy products under strong regional brands.
